Costnip is only as useful as its reports are honest. These guidelines are part of our Terms of Service and apply to everything you share: reports, evidence, questions, corrections and responses.
The short version
- Share real prices you paid, saw or were quoted, for the exact item, store and date.
- Keep fees, discounts and tips separate from the price.
- Cover anything personal on receipts and screenshots.
- Questions and corrections are reviewed before they appear. Keep them about the listing, with no personal or health details.
- No fake reports, no reports about your own business or competitors, no AI-invented content, and no accusations: just the facts.
- Breaking the rules can get content removed and accounts closed. You can ask for another review.
This summary helps you read the full text below. It isn’t part of the agreement. If they differ, the full text applies.
2. Receipts, screenshots and links
- Only upload receipts and screenshots that are yours or that you have permission to share.
- Cover names, card numbers, order numbers, loyalty numbers, addresses and anything else personal. Reviewers will reject or cover evidence that shows them.
- Don’t edit evidence to change a price, date or store. Altered evidence gets the account closed.
- Links should go to the page where you saw the price. We only show the website name publicly.
3. Questions and corrections
Price pages have a comments section for questions about an exact listing and suggested corrections. Posts are reviewed before they appear.
Good posts
- Ask about the listing in front of you: “Does this include the dressing?”, “Is this the 12-pack or the 24-pack?”
- Suggest a specific correction with a reason: the wrong branch, size, date or unit. If you have a public source, describe it or paste its address in plain text.
- Stay on the listing. Questions about Costnip itself go to our contact page.
Not allowed in posts
- Personal information about anyone, including staff names, or details from your own receipt such as order numbers.
- Health details about yourself or others. Ask about the price, not the diagnosis.
- Accusations of crimes, fraud or bad motives, or claims about why a price differs. Describe what’s wrong with the listing, not the business.
- Advertising, promotion, referral links or repeated posts. Businesses reply through a claimed page, not through posts.
- Insults, harassment or anything else that breaks these Guidelines.
A published correction isn’t a verified one. Publishing means it passed these rules; prices change only after reviewers check them. You can withdraw your posts at any time, and you can report a post that breaks the rules. Reports are checked by a reviewer; they don’t hide a post automatically.
4. What isn’t allowed
- Fake, guessed or exaggerated prices, or reports or posts you were paid or rewarded for.
- Reports about a business you own, work for or compete with. Businesses post prices and respond through a claimed page instead (see the Business Policy).
- Multiple accounts, coordinated campaigns, or automated or bulk submissions to push prices up or down.
- Reports or posts written by AI tools or copied from elsewhere, or anything that isn’t your own real experience. You can use tools to help you type, not to invent.
- Accusations of crimes or fraud, or claims about why a price differs. Report the facts and let the comparison speak.
- Personal information about anyone, including staff names, phone numbers, licence plates or photos of people.
- Harassment, threats, hate, sexual content, or anything illegal.
- Spam, ads, links to unrelated sites, or content that infringes copyright or trademarks.
- Health details about yourself or others in notes or questions. Share the price, not the diagnosis.
- Trying to work out who posted an anonymous report, or contacting people about what they reported.
5. What we do when rules are broken
Depending on how serious it is and whether it’s happened before, we may decline or remove content, add a label, ask for more detail, limit features, pause reports or posts from an account, or close it. Fake reports and altered evidence usually lead straight to closure. We may also stop counting an account’s reports in comparisons.
In general: a first, minor problem gets a message and a fix; repeated problems get limits; fraud, harassment, exposing people’s information and evasion of a ban get closure. We may act faster where there’s a risk to people or the service, or where the law requires.
When we act on your content we tell you where we can, with the reason. If you think we got it wrong, reply to that message or email hello@costnip.com within 30 days to request another review by a different reviewer. We aim to answer within 14 days. Our Terms describe moderation in more detail.
6. Flagging a problem
Use “Report a problem” on any report or post, or email hello@costnip.com. Tell us which content and what’s wrong with it. For personal information, copyright or legal complaints, see Copyright and Content Removal. We look at personal information exposures first and aim to hide them within hours.
Please don’t report content just because you disagree with a price. Reports made in bad faith, or in bulk to bury content, break these Guidelines.
